The owner of an intellectual property -- an online patent payment system -- decided to go "full speed ahead" with the web application.
Maintaining a patent and trademark portfolio is a cumbersome and time-consuming job. The need for document identification, cross border management and frequent administrative activity make this an ideal task for web-based automation. After designing and building the public pages, aabalone[red] completed the UI architecture and application design. The programming required for calendaring, data lookup, document retrieval and payment of fees is well underway.

At a recent conference, a pension consultant disclosed that surprisingly few money managers who present to him can articulate what makes them different or why they are special. In his words, they are not “positioned”.
To some degree, consultants reap what they sow. After all, the “boxed” world into which consultants want managers to squeeze themselves fosters conformity. All the same, due to the importance of this distribution channel, failing to effectively differentiate your company before the consultant community significantly undermines your growth potential.
